Definition of Sentence in English:
A sentence is a group of words that make up or define a complete meaning. In writing, a sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a full stop, a question mark, or an exclamation mark.

Types of Sentences – वाक्यों के प्रकार
संरचना और कार्यों के अनुसार वाक्य संरचना के विभिन्न प्रकार होते हैं जिन्हें पाँच प्रकार के वाक्यों में विभाजित किया जाता है।
According to the structure and functions, there are different types of sentence structure which are divided into five types of sentences.
- ASSERTIVE SENTENCE (Statement) – मुखर वाक्य (बयान)
- INTERROGATIVE SENTENCE (Question) – प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य (प्रश्न)
- IMPERATIVE SENTENCE (Command) – अनिवार्य वाक्य (आदेश)
- OPTATIVE SENTENCE (Wish) – वैकल्पिक वाक्य (इच्छा)

एक वाक्य जो एक तथ्य बताता है, चीजों का वर्णन करता है, जानकारी का एक टुकड़ा देता है, घटनाएँ, रिपोर्ट को मुखर वाक्य कहा जाता है। इस वाक्य में, विषय एक क्रिया से पहले खड़ा है।
Assertive Sentence Definition in English:
A sentence which states a fact, describes things, gives a piece of information, events, reports is called an assertive sentence. In this sentence, the subject stands before a verb.

Interrogative Sentence Definition in English:
An interrogative sentence is a sentence that asks a question is called an interrogative sentence. In this sentence, the verb stands in front of the subject and a question mark is used at the end.
There are basically two types of interrogative sentences – प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य मूल रूप से दो प्रकार के होते हैं:

Imperative Sentence Definition in English:
The sentence through which request, advice and order is communicated is called imperative sentence. In this sentence, the subject you ‘understood’ is usually omitted. It begins with a verb in the first form and ends with a full stop.

जिस वाक्य से इच्छा, प्रार्थना, इच्छा और आशीर्वाद प्रकट होता है, उसे ऑप्टिव वाक्य कहते हैं। यह May या Let से शुरू होता है और पूर्ण विराम के साथ समाप्त होता है।
Optative Sentence Definition in English:
The sentence which expresses desire, prayer, wish and blessing is called an optative sentence. It starts with May or Let and ends with a full stop.
