Mahatma Gandhi Essay in English
Gandhi was a great selfless leader of India. His original name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. He was born on 2 October 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat. He was a true boy since childhood. After passing the entrance examination, he went to England to study law. He returned to India and went to South Africa to practice law. Their aim was to protect the Indians oppressed by the white rulers.
He came to India and joined the Indian National Congress. He started Satyagraha against the oppressed people of British rule. He went behind bars several times. He was non-violent, pious, and loved people very much. He had a great contribution in achieving the independence of India on 15 August 1947. Rabindranath named him ‘Mahatma’. Mahatmaji is considered the ‘Father of the Nation’. Unfortunately, the Mahatma was shot dead by Nathuram Gods on 30 January 1948.
